Apply to be a 2025 PAC Student Fellow
Earlier this week, the AU Department of Anthropology excitedly announced that our annual signature event – the Public Anthropology Conference – is back. With new funding support from the AU Office of Research, we are revitalizing the Public Anthropology Conference – building upon past conferences’ successes and commitment to deep engagement while expanding the event's scope, offerings, and even physical location. This year’s conference will be a free-to-the-public, two-day event held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in downtown Washington, D.C. on November 7 and 8.
As we plan this year’s conference and build a sustainable conference structure for future years, we are looking to hire students as 2025 PAC Student Fellows.
Note: For students, being a Student Fellow is not the only way to be involved with the conference. See additional opportunities — including an exciting methods / experiential learning class with Dr. Mubbashir Rizvi — below the Student Fellow description.

Other student opportunities
In addition to Student Fellowships, there are several other ways for students to be involved in the conference.
Enroll in Translating Scholarship with Community Engagement (ANTH-544, Topics in Public Anthropology) with Dr. Mubbashir Rizvi for Fall 2025. Students will be involved with the conference, particularly as it relates to conference evaluation and community engagement. This course is open to graduate and undergraduate students within and outside of anthropology and counts as a methods course. More information on this course will be sent in the following weeks.
Present their research, organize panels, or host workshops
Volunteer for day-of tasks with the conference
Students can also be involved in multiple ways. Student Fellows may also enroll in ANTH-544 and present their work. Research presenters may also volunteer.
